More new kit peeks!

I've got a couple more kit peeks to share. We're waiting on one last shipment with the MME then the new kits will be ready to go out next week.  :)

I've put some of the soft colours of the main kit together here. These are going to contrast with the reds and navy blues and be complimented by soft pinks.

The Lite kit in contrast has a brighter colour combination with hot pinks, bright reds and turquoise tempered with pale greys. There's also a splash of gold with this fab May Arts wide trim and gold stars.

As soon as the last shipment arrives I'll get to work on the full reveal photos and post them up :)

New 2013 Design Team & features!

Hi!

This year from February they'll be a few additions to inspire your Quirky Kit crafting time. We've got a dedicated design team for 2013 making cards, layout and projects with Quirky Kits. They'll also be additional guest designers popping in from time to time too :) Our permanent design team for 2013 will be:

  :  Lythan  :  Nikki  :  Kathy  :  Kielly  :  Trish  :

So a big welcome and thank you to the girls for joining the team and bringing you awesome inspiration! :)

In addition to the dedicated design team I'm also going to be adding some new regular features on the Quirky Kits blog to keep inspiration coming for the two months each new kit is out. Look out for these new changes popping up at the beginning of February. New blog features are set to include:
Quirky Classroom (Online classes working with Quirky Kits)
Scribbles (Sketches to work from)
Trends & Techniques (Techniques to try)
Cardmaking Corner (making cards using Quirky Kit on their own and with Crafty Templates)
Pinterest Pointers (inspiration pointers spotted via Pinterest to inspire)

These will pop up on the blog through each month with at least one new feature every week. I'll be adding linking buttons for each feature to the blog side bar so you can access them easily or don't forget you can still add your email address at the side to get each new blog post emailed to you automatically when they're added so you can keep up with new content.

Jan/Feb Kits first peek!

Here's a quick sneak peek of a few of the goodies coming up in the new kits. I've picked out some of the embellishments to highlight. I went with a Zakka look for the embellishments for the main kit. Zakka is a term used in Japan/Asia for kind of quirky/kitschy things with a sort of Scandinavian, clean look too.
We've got some pretty trims from May Arts, cute little paper airmail envelope embellishments, a cool fabric with postmarks and a set of Shinzi Katoh notelets.
I'll be back with more peeks as the goodies arrive :)

New CHA goodies part 2

Hi!

I've got the second round up of new goodies that have caught my eye for future kits today. I'll kick off with ILS and a new line called 'Divine this Line':

I like these washed out colours but I kind of want to mix in some darker denim blue too though with these to make them pop more, (and I think they'd look great mixed with some of the brighter colours in the Elle's Studio goodies bellow).

So, on to Elle's Studio next. Elle always has some lovely goodies and I particularly like these kind of file cards this time around, what do you think?

These little round ones are made to go in the center of homemade embellies I think.

There's also a paper line to match that I'm liking, particularly the bottom three papers:
There's another whole collection too, this one is a little more vintage feeling

Onto picking up trends and I did pick up on this one last year in our September/October kits but there's lots more around this time around, 'speech bubbles'. I'm thinking of adding another mask like we had in last summers kit so I'm liking this one from Studio Calico, what do you think?

Diecuts seem to be another one of the main trends popping up and these cards from Simple Stories pick up on it. They're similar to the American Crafts ones but these are a larger 6x8 size. I know they're for minibooks but I'd use these on pages too?

I like some of this line too from Simple Stories '24 Seven' particularly these stickers:
And a couple of the papers:

Echo Park is next. Some of these I've already ordered to go in the upcoming Jan/Feb kits :-) I always love the 'solid' patterns they do like the dots and stripes lines as they're so easy to work with so this collection caught my eye:

Lilybee have one or two things that I'm liking from different lines. I like these punchy papers from the 'Pinwheel' line:

This one is from the 'Sweet Shoppe' line:

This is also Lilybee but a different look with the dark woodgrain. These are from a collection called 'Destination':

More red dots!

And how cool that this one has the UK/Europe on it for all us UK Scrappers!

Prima next. I'm not huge into Prima but sometimes they have interesting quirky stuff and this new line is really fun and quirky. I like the layers of the kraft and paint/inky ness printed on the paper and the quirky 'pen and ink' illustrations:

This last sheet are stickers Some of these I've picked out to are go into this months' main kit  ;-)

OK last but not least Bella Blvd and these rather lush new designer tapes.

And check out these cute crochet heart embellishments!

I'm going to wrap it up there. I'm still on the look out for new interesting goodies as always ;-)
Keep it here for the first sneak peeks of the new kits, 'Writing to Reach you' and 'Noted' the main and Lite Quirky Kits for Jan/Feb. I know the first half of the new goodies should be shipping this week so fingers crossed they'll be arriving sometime next week. I'm putting together one last feature using up goodies from the last kits so I'll be back soon to share that with you.

CHA new goodies highlights Part 1

I've been busy this past week browsing through lots of the new 2013 product catalogues in my inbox and I've picked out some of the more interesting/inspiring stuff from what I've seen so far for a round up. Some of these may find themselves in Quirky Kits over the coming months.

I've seen lots of interesting colour combinations and I think this one from the Fancy Pants 'Trendsetter' line is one of my favourites:

I've already picked up on this trend for mixing up soft pastels with darker bolder colours for the upcoming kits but this whole line works it perfectly with the mix of the pastel minty greens, soft pink and then the deeper red and navy. The patterned papers are cool too with a great mix of basic patterns that would be easy to work with.

On the theme of interesting colours this line from Glitz called 'Color me Happy' is defo one of the most colourful I've seen and I love it!

These are a couple of my stand out papers from the line:

I like how the opposite sides are plainer too so even though the colours are bright you could use both sides of the paper to temper the colours down on one layout or use the plain side if you weren't feeling the colour. And check out this cool roller stamp from the same line:

Another collection that caught my eye is the self titled one from scrapbooker Maggie Holmes  designed for Crate Paper. Some of the papers are really adorable and I particularly like these fabric Polaroid frames:

Defo got my eye on some of these for future kits!

Alison Kreft who designed the cute 'Everyday Ecclectic' line we had in last years summer kits has designed two new lines this time for Websters Pages 'Sweet Notes' and 'Color & Composition'. I'm liking some of the simpler patterns in these lines, the diagonal stripes and the chevrons/florals more than the illustrated ones here as they'll be great for everyday scrapping/cardmaking. Fab colours here yet again.

This next line from Cosmo Cricket caught my eye too, 'Sweet Disposition'. The fabric stickers look interesting and I like the mix of dark woodgrain with the ice cream colours along with the florals and ombre effects.

I've picked out a couple of things from GCD Studios that stuck out. These are from a collection called 'Sunkissed'. While the whole line is a summer theme I think these individually would work really well for everyday scrapping and again I'm loving these softer colours.

I spied these in the GCD Studios catalogue too that I thought looked interesting, maybe as an alternative to plain coloured cardstock for kits?

There are lots and lots of paper tapes around now but the best I've seen I think are these new ones from Jenni Bowlin as they'll work great with lots of different paper styles.

Another collection that caught my eye is this one by Authentique 'Renew'. I like the striking colours of the turquoise with the black and yellow. Some of these papers I think would look great with other colours mixed in though too, maybe a minty green and red?

I'm not sure why I like this next collection 'Sundrifter' by Studio Calico but I kind of do, lol! (it's reminding me of the 'Indie Girl' collection that Sassafras did which was one of my all times faves). There's a great mix up and I personally like to mix vintage with modern so I can see where some of these would work together. I particularly like the feathers and the handwritten text prints though.

More pretty papers and goodies that have caught my eye are these from a new Dear Lizzy collection for American Crafts called 'Lucky Charm'.

As with all the American Crafts lines there are some fab embellishments too check out these Thickers:

These are called 'Trinket Thickers' they're chipboard accent stickers.

These look intriguing too 'diecut cards'.

These look cool too, Thickers with holes along the tops so you can thread through twine or ribbon to make little garlands. There are other types of these across collections. These are from the Crate Paper DIY line.
From the same Crate Paper collection these caught my eye too!
One trend that's showing up alot this year that I'm drawn too is mixing in metallics with colours and Pink Paislee have a whole line with just metallics that I think will be great to mix in with other lines. They're metallic basics of copper, gold, silver and black in solid metallics and glitters. I particulaly like these chipboard embellishments:
Well I'm going to wrap this part up now and will get back with more as I'm sure they'll be more to browse through as CHA kicks off next week. If there's anything you've seen that you'd like to be in kits this year let me know in the comments and I'll pop and check them out.
