Lift It Challenges 4 & 5

New Weekly Challenge - Lift It
Here are the details for the last two the new weekly challenges. Apologies for the post here being late. I thought the posts would be added automatically but Blogger obviously doesn't like working from my phone, back to the good old way with the PC! The challenge deadline is Sunday 30th November.
The new challenge focuses on a different layout to scrap lift every week. You'll need to use at least three of the design elements from the featured page on your layout.
How it works:
Complete all the Lift It weekly challenges to be eligible for an extra goody in your next kit box! All projects must be new projects made specifically for this challenge. You can use any stash you choose but it's a great opportunity to dig into your kit box!
Layouts 4 and 5 to scraplift are here:

You need to include at least three elements from the page. It doesn't need to be a direct lift, (copying everything you see). Pick out your favourite elements that make up the page design then swap and change in new things to make your layout personal to you.
Ready to get going with your own layout?
Once you've finished your creation upload it to your platform of choice.
For Instagram tag @craftytemplates and mention it's for the Lift It Quirky Kit challenge so I can find it.
For Facebook add it to the Quirky Kits Group - on the post for each new challenge or else mention it's for the Lift It challenge when you post it so I can find it.
For blog add a link to your project from your blog in the comments below this or any of the Lift It challenge posts on the Quirky Kits blog.

Ways To Play With Mica Mist

Hi Leo here!

I've finally got a chance to have another play with the new kit goodies and I've been experimenting with the Nuvo Mica Mist.
The background paper and ephemera are from the Lite kit and I pinched out a few of the leaves and enamel dots from my main kit. Then the Mica mist is from the main kit too.

I started off by wanting to add some inky texture to the background paper. I sprayed the Mica Mist on to a plastic bag, quite a lot of it, about 10 sprays.

I then took a piece of kitchen towel and dabbed it in the mist then on my paper background.

When I'd built up the background I also added a few drops/splashes by tapping the spray nozzle with a pencil, (I showed me demoing this in the kit booklet too).

Next I wanted to see what else I could add the Mica Mist to. I pulled out the leaf cut outs from the main kit and put them on my plastic sheet again, (this will get used over and over as a 'splash mat' for my mica messes!). I then sprayed the Mica Mist over the tops.

The leaves started to curl up so I took my kitchen paper towel again and blotted and pressed to flatten them down.

I used glue stick to glue them down to my layout background.

Some I also layered over the tops of the die cuts. I also used the Mica mist in the same way on the paper frame I cut out, just from plain white card in the style of an instant photo frame.

Hope my playing has given you some more ideas. If you're a bit unsure about the Mica Mist I'd say just start playing around with it. Take out a sheet of card and see what effects you can create with it. Even if you don't like a background you make, the Mica itself is so pretty that you can use your sheet for die cutting or matting photos, it never needs to be wasted!

Lift It Weekly Challenge - Week #3

New Weekly Challenge - Lift It
Here are the details for the third week of the new weekly challenges. The new challenge is called Lift It.

The new challenge focuses on a different layout to scrap lift every week. You'll need to use at least three of the design elements from the featured page on your layout.
How it works:
I'll post up details of each new challenge every week, (this being challenge number 3 of 5). Each new challenge will be posted here and on the blog for you to follow along with.
Complete all the Lift It weekly challenges to be eligible for an extra goody in your next kit box! All projects must be new projects made specifically for this challenge. You can use any stash you choose but it's a great opportunity to dig into your kit box!
The next challenge layout to lift is this one:

You need to include at least three elements from the page. It doesn't need to be a direct lift, (copying everything you see). Pick out your favourite elements that make up the page design, maybe how the papers are arranged then the use of enamel dots, paint splashes. But then maybe you have more photos you want to add, more journalling alongside the title? etc.
Ready to get going with your own layout?
Once you've finished your creation upload it to your platform of choice.
For Instagram tag @craftytemplates and mention it's for the Lift It #3 Quirky Kit challenge so I can find it.
For Facebook add it to the Quirky Kits Group - on the post for each new challenge or else mention it's for the Lift It challenge #3 when you post it so I can find it.

It's Official - Natalie

Hi everyone,

I'm back today with my first layout using the Sept/ October Kits.

 Supplies used:

Main Kit:
CVS Unforgettable Enamel Dots
CVS Unforgettable Ephemera Pack
CVS Unforgettable Accessory Stickers
CVS Unforgettable - Garland 12x12 Paper (Blue backing paper)
CVS Unforgettable - Glorious 12x12 Paper (Grey arrow paper)
CVS Love Always - Bouquet 12 x12 Paper (Zigzag paper)
White cardstock

Lite Kit:
CVS Love Always Ephemera Pack

Own Stash:
Black thickers

I started off with the grey arrow paper (CVS Glorious) from the main kit. I knew I wanted to have the arrows facing down towards the bottom of the page and my main area of embellishment.

I printed 3 photos of different sizes and backed them on white cardstock. I added foam under my main photo to help it stand out more.

I used the blue B side of the Garland paper as a border around my page, and to help bring in a second colour to the layout.

I used a layout that Leo posted in the Quirky Kits FB group as inspiration to cut a zizag from the CVS Bouquet paper. I used it under my 3 photos to anchor them.

I added several arrows from the 2 ephemera packs pointing towards my photos to continue the arrow theme.

For my title I used some thickers from my stash. I added 3 blue flowers across my layout in 3 clusters, to create a visual triangle and to bring in the blue colour of the border. I also added in co-ordinating enamel dots from the main kit.

At the top right I added a small cluster of a label, arrow, enamel dots and flowers to complete the visual triangle.

I hope this layout gives you some inspiration for using the arrow paper!
